Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC) confirmed its support for EDEX Expo 2017 by signing on as a Gold sponsor. EDEX Expo is the country’s largest education exhibition and job fair organized annually by the Royal College Union. CINEC has been collaborating with EDEX Expo since its inception in 2004.
The CINEC Campus is the largest non-state institution for higher education in Sri Lanka catering to over 20,000 students per year. CINEC gives students the opportunity to choose from a number of courses offered by departments including Engineering and Technology, Maritime Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Marine Engineering, Q-SHE, English Language and Communication, Information Technology, Safety and Survival Training, Maritime Simulation, Diving, Finance, Marketing and even Human Resource Management.
Speaking about the collaboration with EDEX Expo 2017, Professor Nalaka Jayakody, Vice President CINEC Campus said, “CINEC is proud to have been associated with EDEX Expo for over a decade. We firmly believe that this Expo gives local youth a wonderful opportunity to understand many education and career paths that are available to them. We look forward to a highly successful Expo this year as well.”
Established in 1990, CINEC is currently affiliated to the University of Wolverhampton,South Missouri State University, Dalian Maritime University, Australian Maritime College University of Tasmania and University of Adelaide. CINEC is also recognized and approved by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.

Enriched with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certification, CINEC was the winner of the National Quality Awards for four consecutive terms of five years 1999, 2004, 2009 & 2014, winner of Global (World Class) Performance Excellence Award in 2012, and also awarded Best in Class Award for Education Organization in 2010 by the Asia Pacific Quality Organization. CINEC has extended its presence outside of Sri Lanka by entering into an agreement with the Government of Fiji and the Fiji National University to manage its Maritime School in Suva. Furthermore, CINEC has also taken over management of the Seychelles Maritime Training Centre (MTC).
